read a great quote today...

"...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room but for one language here, and that language is the English language.. and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyality to the American people"

-Theodore Roosevelt 1907.

usually I don't post this kinda stuff anywhere. I found this particularily moving. I couldn't have put it more eloquently than that. I am so worried about the unraveling of our melting pot society. I'm worried it won't be a melting pot. Instead it will be a muffin pan, each with a different muffin in it. Does that make sense? *sigh*

Jes's Birthday...

jes's birthday ruled...I'll let the photos do most of the story telling. We went to red dragon downtown. Most of the day was spent trying to find a dress. Once we found one, she bought it and brought it home to notice it was a size 10, not a size 4. Anyways... here's some pics! Thanks for those that came, it was a blast...

all of the pics are here:

Tastes like Home

Went to visit my grandparents this week. My grandpa needed to clean up the yard. They have around 3 acres and I thought Jes and I should help do the spring cleaning. We drove down there and started throwing tons of sticks and branches and logs into the chipper. It was exhausting. My back hurt quite a bit, but I told myself it couldnt have been as bad as Grandpas back. Jes raked the backyard extensively. It looked great!

We went inside to eat and watch 24. Afterwards my Grandpa wasn't feeling well. We ended up taking him to the hospital. It was probably the most afraid I have been since I can remember. I held his hand while we waited for the ambulance. My whole life he had looked the same age. (minus the mustache at my younger years.) For some reason at this point he looked old. Perhaps I had never taken the time to study his face as I did at that time. He was exhausted...It was terrifying for me seeing him like that. I told him not to do anything stupid because we still had to finish his truck. His hands were so cold...Once the ambulance came everything got better. He is fine now, and didnt have to stay over 5 or 6 hours.

My Dad came over the following day and Jes, Him, and I kicked some ass on the yard some more. It looks great. They should have great grass under the great oak in the backyard this year. My Dad and I talked quite a bit about my past, and things I wouldnt remember since I would have been to young. It was hard for him to talk about it I could tell. I'm proud to have him as my Dad.

That night Paal called and we went to hang out bowling with him. I miss him. We didn't hang out a ton when he was here, but every minute was 'quality'. I hope to see him again soon.

I took him for a ride/drive in my car. We ended up at menards where we bought a DA sander to get rocking on his rabbit truck. I sanded away on it and it should be ready for some body filler after that. I hope i can get down there soon to work on it some more.

Jes and I went to visit my Dad at his place on the way home. He bought a goat. A goat. His name is Goat Boy. Very, very strange to say the least. It was very docile...

It's good to be home, but I miss family already. On with the pictures shall we?

V for Vendetta

I went and saw V for Vendetta today with Jes and Glen. I have to say it was a great movie. The action was good, the dialogue was great. I have to admit that at times the diction got a bit 'v'erbose but it was intelligent. The big thing that bothered me about this movie however, was the seeming need to bring up 'conservative' and 'american led war' quite often. I don't see how that plays any part in the storyline. I didn't care if it was a socialist facist pacifist government. I don't even understand why they needed to bring the "FALL OF THE MIGHTY AMERICA" into the movie at all. It was pointless and unneccesary. /vent

Visiting my grandparents for a few days tomorrow. I guess their yard is quite a mess from a few storms. I'll be helping them w/ the wood chipper and general yard cleanup. It will be good to get away from here for awhile...It gets a bit repetitive...

CRISIS

I must be having my mid 20's crisis. Picked up a Haro and went biking out w/ Glen and Dave tonight. We biked around from about 8-11. It was a ton of fun. We went all over downtown. Got stopped by cops, ate at davannis, and jumped off things way to high for me to do with my eyes open. Classic. I haven't had this good of a time out and about in awhile!!!! Pardon the camera phone ;)

FINALLY

Finally got the car going, and the coilovers on. Me, Glen, Greg, and a few of the BMW guys went tooling around stillwater to plan a future drive. I had a good time... I think the car is a bit too low. I feel like my spine belongs in a mason jar in the cupboards...it's too stiff. I dont think I have a whole lot of suspension travel left where it's at right now. We'll have to see I guess...

The Car

My car is in the shop. It has been since yesterday. Sometimes I wonder why I don't just buy a nice new car w/ a warranty, no rattles or sounds, and 0 miles. My coilovers came yesterday, but I obviously can't put those on. I had a nightmare that my car was in the hospital, in the ER. I am losing my mind!
